Other Problems Look Like Acne

We all know that acne is an infection caused when you are in contact with pollution, dust, harmful sunrays or the hormonal changes. It may become worse when you use low quality cosmetics, junk foods and sometimes under stress and take pills for being out of it. Acne disease is most popular among the people nowadays. Every age group is suffering from acne problem due to the environmental conditions or the unhygienic one’s.

There are diseases that have the same look as acne have. Sometimes we cannot find the difference between the acne and the other diseases. Some of the diseases that look like acne are:

Folliculitis: It is an infection of the hair follicle. It is mostly caused by bacteria’s but sometimes it can be happened with the fungus. Folliculitis comes in various forms that are non-infectious. When you come in contact with the other forms of folliculitis like tars, greases and oils, your skin may not react to it as these are non-infectious. When it looks like acne, you can’t determine whether it is acne or folliculitis.

Perioral dermatitis: It is a very common rash that appears on the face. It consists mainly of small vesicles, pus spots and small reddened bumps. These often gather around the nose, mouth and chin. If you use steroid creams, you will definitely face the problem of the redness around your chin and above the upper lip. These creams sometimes cause irritation or itching sensation and give rise to this disease. Same is the case with perioral dermatitis as with folliculitis. It can’t be detected easily that whether it is acne mark or any other skin infection as both appears almost same.

Rosacea: If you are above 35 and your acne appeared a long time back without showing any sign of being cured, then you might think it as adult acne. But no, it can’t be like that because that disease might be rosacea. It is an infection that leaves no marks on the skin and has a long lasting effect. Sometimes people misunderstand with it and take the pills of adult acne. It varies with time and may not become worse. At times, you may find your face is redden and that may not be the reason of importunate redness of your face or sweating but may be due to the broken blood vessels. However, comedones like blackheads and whiteheads do not belong to this category.

Keratosis Pilaris: It is a disorder that also occurs in hair pores and cause redness around. It is often found in teenage girls and around 40% adults. If you are suffering from hay fever, eczema or asthma, you might be easily caught by keratisis pilaris. Hair follicles may also be affected with this turmoil.

Sometimes it is a very big problem if you take the treatment for acne and afterwards it comes out to be any of the disease like perioral dermatitis, rosacea, keatosis pilaris or folliculitis. Every treatment contain some of the drugs or sometimes all the drugs different from the other problem, it may worsen the disease. So, if you find any problem regarding skin consult your doctor before taking any pills.

Doxycycline Treatment For Acne

There are many people who suffer from acne disease and prefer to have oral treatment instead of any kind of surgery. Oral acne treatment technique involves the presence of bacteria in the body. These bacteria’s helps in treating acne.

The drugs like antibiotic can also used for this process to give the better result because antibiotics attack the harmful bacteria’s that are the cause of infection. It also helps in stopping the growth of the new bacteria’s. If we see through the antibiotics, the best recommended one is doxycycline.

Some years ago, doxycycline was recommended to the person’s who were the victim of bacterial virus like gonorrhea. Later, this antibiotic was taken in connection with tetracycline as it become more effective, if used with it. It can reduce acne and the growth of the pimples.

There are other antibiotics like tetracycline and erythromycin used for treating the acne. But sometimes these give no response to acne sufferers. Hence, doxycycline is used for this purpose to cure acne. Though doxycycline is a safe antibiotic but it is necessary to keep some of the points in mind before taking doxycycline.

• This antibiotic should be used after the meal to avoid any discrepancy in the body.
• It should be understood that 100 milligrams of doxycycline is to be taken twice a day. However, the overdose of any drug may be harmful for the normal functioning of the body.
• There are many patients who confirms the result faster and the overdose may cause vomiting or diarrhea in them.
• This antibiotic should not be taken with any other antibiotic supplements as it works better being alone.
• As we know that minerals and vitamins are essential for our body. But minerals like iron and calcium and vitamins like antacids do not allow the body to absorb any drug.
• Also, if you are treating your acne through this process, you should strictly use sunscreen or avoid the sunlight because this drug causes sunburn.
• This drug is avoided to pregnant women due to the unhealthy threat to the unborn babies. Also, it should be avoided by the breastfeeding mothers as it affects baby’s teeth and in the development of the bones.

Although, this drug is the perfect treatment to the acne problem, it also contains some side effects. The major side effects include the facial swelling, itching and irritation. Other side effects are the pain in the stomach or give cramps in it. Sometimes, it may affect the respiration process through which our body functions. This drug should not be taken without the knowledge of the doctors.

It is to be noted that unlike doxycyline has many side effects, its overall performance goes to the best effects of this drug. If this antibiotic is taken regularly, it may cause the acne problem to go within few days. But for removing it as earlier as possible, do not try to take its overdose else you will be in trouble and may be affected by many skin diseases other than acne.
